Step Out for a Great Cause: Walk the Test Way Returns in 2026

Local walkers, families and community groups we urged you to lace up your boots and take part in this year’s Walk the Test Way. Our charity walking event combines countryside adventure with fundraising for causes close to your heart.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Romsey TestWalk the Test Way will take place this year Sunday 27th September 2026, bringing together participants of all ages and abilities for a day on the beautiful Hampshire landscape while raising money for charities both big and small.

A Walk for Everyone

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just enjoy a gentle stroll, there’s a distance to suit you. Walkers can choose from five routes, ranging from a refreshing 5-mile stretch to a challenge-worthy 25½-mile trek each following sections of the picturesque Test Way footpath

Participants are transported by private coach to their chosen starting point, and all finish at

Romsey’s Memorial Park where a warm welcome and commemorative medal await.

Dogs on short leads are welcome too, making this a perfect day out for families and pets alike.

Support a Cause That Matters

What sets this walk apart is its purpose: walking to raise funds for charity. Since its launch in 2003, our event has helped raise more than £1.3 million for organisations across the UK from national health and research charities to local groups providing vital community support.

In 2025 alone, walkers helped raise around £85,000 which was distributed to nearly 90 charities working in areas such as healthcare, disability support, youth services and environmental causes.

That sense of shared achievement — finishing the walk together and knowing every step helped someone — is remarkable,” says an organiser. "Many people return year after year, not only for the stunning scenery but to walk again for causes that matter to them".

More Than Just a Walk

Alongside the physical challenge and fundraising, Walk the Test Way fosters community spirit. Local families, schools, scout groups, businesses and charities come together, creating teams that walk side-by-side while sharing stories, sponsorship goals and memories.

The Test Way itself offers some of Hampshire’s most charming countryside — river meadows, rolling hills and historic villages provide a truly memorable outdoor experience.

How to Take Part

Registration is open from the 1st May 2026.

It’s simple to take part: register on the Walk the Test Way website, choose your distance and set up a sponsorship page to raise funds for your favourite cause.

Whether you’re walking for a lifelong passion, supporting a charity close to your heart, or simply looking for a rewarding day out, Walk the Test Way is the perfect opportunity to make a real difference — one step at a time.

Just some of our amazing volunteers from last year. Thank you 🙏
