Over 574 enthusiastic walkers joined together to Walk the Test Way for their chosen charity. Walkers can choose their distance walking anywhere from 25.5 miles to 5 miles between St Mary Bourne to Romsey Memorial Park.

Walkers are bussed to their start point and then make their way along the Test Way back to Romsey to end the walk at the Memorial Park.  Walkers were greeted by the Mayor of Romsey Cllr John Parker,  The Worshipful the Mayor Councillor Ian Jeffrey and it was a real pleasure to welcome to attendance of Rotary District Governor Debbie Dunford to the finish line to help handing out the many medals along with water for the walkers.

Thanks to Outreach Radio, the finish line was buzzing with fantastic music and interviews keeping everyone entertained on the field and at home whilst family, charity stalls, sponsors, Rotarians were all waiting patiently for the return of the walkers.

Now in its 21st year, this event has raised well over 1m for charities both local and national.  In 2023 the event raised over £90k for 115 different causes.  This year the main charities were Mountbatten Hospice with 88 walkers, Alfie’s Wish with 55 walkers, Rose Road with 35 walkers and Parkinson’s UK Fundraising South with 34 walkers (26 of those were from Romsey Football Club). On the 27th October 2024 the walk had raised £74,000 for 86 charities.

Rotary Club of Romsey Test would like to thank the local businesses and organisations for their support with this event.  “your support plays a significant part in the events success and we would like to give thanks specially to Bells Solicitors, Michael Rhodes Estate Agents, Home Instead, Abbotswood Pre-School and Day Nursery, Outreach Radio, Daley Hub Ltd, Wheelers Coaches, Ace Liftaway, Bettavend and to Embley Park School and Romsey Scouts for their support”

While the support from sponsors in invaluable, the real stars of the event however, is the support from all the amazing volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to ensure the event runs smoothly.
